Pahinungód UPOU Launches Bata, Basa Reading Program

In continuing the commitment of the office to developing reading intervention programs, the Ugnayan ng Pahinungód UPOU launched the Bata, Basa Reading Program (BBRP). BBRP aims to assist the teachers and parents/guardians in improving the reading skills of K to 3 learners using their Mother Tongue and develop students' appreciation for reading.  Image caption: Asst. Pahinungód UPOU Conducts UPCAT Simulation for Schools of Region X

In line with the upcoming UP College Admission Test (UPCAT) 2024 scheduled on 3 and 4 June 2023, the Ugnayan ng Pahinungód UPOU, in coordination with DepEd Region X office, conducted UPCAT Simulation Exam administration activities to the UPCAT applicants from the region.  This initiative was held on 8-9 May 2023, and aims to familiarize the students with the procedures, guidelines, and protocols observed in taking the UPCAT and orient them in filling-out the examination materials. To further promote mental health wellness and provide stress reduction techniques accessible to the general public, the Ugnayan ng Pahinungód University of the Philippines Open University conducted an online workshop on crocheting titled “Stitch Away Your Stress” on 28 February 2023 via Zoom. The workshop was facilitated by Ms. Mary Meghan P. Perido, an entrepreneur, crochet maker, and an alumna from the University of the Philippines Los Baños. Pahinungod UPOU Holds a Workshop on Therapeutic Communication for OSA Proctors

The Office of Student Affairs (OSA) collaborated with the Ugnayan ng Pahinungód University of the Philippines Open University in conducting a workshop on Therapeutic Communication on 27 February 2023. The workshop was conducted in a hybrid format. A face-to-face and an online session was simultaneously held at the Centennial Center for Digital Learning Auditorium (CCDL), UPOU Headquarters and online via Zoom. True to its mission of reaching out to underserved communities, the Ugnayan ng Pahinungod UPOU, in collaboration with the Office of the Staff Regent  (OSR), and the All UP Workers Union (AUPWU) Diliman and Open University Chapters, conducted an ICT Literacy training program among the youth of the Dumagat Indigenous People community from Rodriguez, Rizal, last 8 and 15 October 2022. Prof. Queenie Roxas-Ridulme, a faculty member from the Faculty of Management and Development Studies (FMDS), University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) is the newly-appointed Director of the Ugnayan ng Pahinungód UPOU effective 1 October 2021. She is also the designated Assistant to the Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs for Data Management and one of the FMDS Mental Health Focal Persons. The Ugnayan ng Pahinungod University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) conducted a training on dialogic reading for parents titled “Sama-sama sa Pagbasa: Paggamit ng Dialogic Reading Method sa Pagbabasa Kasama ang Pamilya” on 16 July to 13 August 2021.
