In continuing the commitment of the office to developing reading intervention programs, the Ugnayan ng Pahinungód UPOU launched the Bata, Basa Reading Program (BBRP). BBRP aims to assist the teachers and parents/guardians in improving the reading skills of K to 3 learners using their Mother Tongue and develop students’ appreciation for reading.

For its pilot implementation, 50 identified struggling readers from Grade 3 of Sto. Domingo Elementary School (SDES) will serve as the participants. Program orientations were conducted for the participating teachers and parents on 29 August and 7 September 2023, respectively. Dr. Naneth Labrador, Principal II of Sto. Domingo Elementary School expressed her full support for the program.

To assist in the program monitoring, 6 UPOU employees from the Office of Student Affairs (OSA) and Office of Public Affairs (OPA), will serve as volunteer monitors. The program will run for 12 weeks, from 11 September – 15 December 2023.
