In line with the upcoming UP College Admission Test (UPCAT) 2024 scheduled on 3 and 4 June 2023, the Ugnayan ng Pahinung\u00f3d UPOU, in coordination with DepEd Region X office, conducted UPCAT Simulation Exam administration activities to the UPCAT applicants from the region.\u00a0\u00a0This initiative was held on 8-9 May 2023, and aims to familiarize the students with the procedures, guidelines, and protocols observed in taking the UPCAT and orient them in filling-out the examination materials.<\/p>\n

Four simultaneous sessions were conducted at Bulua National High School located in Cagayan de Oro, Misamis Oriental on 8 May, from 1:00-5:30 PM. The Pahinung\u00f3d\u00a0UPOU\u00a0team was received by Ms. Evelyn Sumanda, Principal of Bulua National High School. Similarly, four simultaneous sessions were also conducted on 9 May 2023, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PMat Iligan City National High School, Iligan City, Lanao del Norte. The team was accommodated by Mr. Zosimo Gomez, Principal alongside his teachers.<\/p>\n

A total of\u00a0227\u00a0students from six high schools participated during the simulation. These are from Cogon National High School, Talakag National High School, Bulua National High School, Gusa Regional Science High School, Iligan City National High School and Lala National High School.<\/p>\n

The simulation test has a total of 75 items distributed into four subtests, namely, Language and Proficiency, Science, Mathematics and Reading Comprehension. Each subtest has a specific time allotment and is separately timed.<\/p>\n

Pahinungod staff members, namely Ms. Charlene Mina, Ms. Jurell Ordanes, Ms. Jestine Crhistia Gatdula, and Ms. Carla Alyssa Cabrera, served as examiners and proctors during the simulation.<\/p>\n

Prior to the UPCAT simulation activities, the\u00a0Pahinung\u00f3d\u00a0team led by its Director, Asst. Prof. Queenie R. Ridulme, held a Bridge Program coordination meeting with the\u00a0key officials of DepEd Region 10 on 8 May 2023, 10 am at the Regional Office, Cagayan de Oro City, Misamis Oriental. Data on the participation and performance of their students in the ongoing offering of Bridge English, Bridge Mathematics and Bridge Physics were discussed during the meeting. The meeting was attended by Dr. Federico P.\u00a0 Martin, Assistant Regional Director; Mala Epra Magnaong, Chief of the Curriculum and Learning Management Division (CLMD);\u00a0 Dr. Marino Dal, EPS- Math and Bridge Program 2023 focal person; Dr. Raybutch Mahinay, EPS \u2013 ALS; and Dr. Ellen Cabahug, EPS \u2013 SPED. The meeting served as part of the monitoring activities for offering the online bridge program.<\/p>\n

The team also held a courtesy visit at the DepEd Iligan City Division Office on 9 May 2023.\u00a0 Preliminary data about the offering of the bridge courses were presented to its key officials, namely\u00a0Myra Mebato, CESO VI, Assistant Schools Division Superintendent; Exquil Bryan Aron, Chief of Curriculum Implementation Division; and Eugene Daguio, Bridge Mathematics focal person from the Iligan City Division.<\/p>\n
